THE SERGEANT DIDN’T KNOW WHO WAS STANDING IN FRONT OF HIM

Sarah looked at him for a long moment.

Then she answered calmly:

“My name is Sarah Johnson.”

Tom waited.

The name meant nothing to him.

Until another officer behind him suddenly looked shocked.

His eyes widened.

“Wait…”

He stared at Sarah.

“Captain Johnson?”

The street went completely silent.

Tom’s confident expression disappeared.

Because everyone in that department knew one thing.

Captain Sarah Johnson wasn’t just another officer.

She was one of the highest-ranking investigators in the city.

And she had spent years removing corrupt officers from the force.

Tom’s face turned pale.

“You’re… Captain Johnson?”

Sarah nodded.

“Yes.”

The taxi driver looked stunned.

“You’re a police captain?”

Sarah looked at him.

“Today, I wasn’t trying to be a captain.”

She glanced at Tom.

“I was just trying to get home.”

Then she looked at the officers standing behind him.

“But what I saw today cannot be ignored.”

Tom suddenly became defensive.

“Captain, you misunderstood the situation. I was just doing my job.”
